Elderly Man Drives Car Down Rome’s Spanish Steps
Rome: Municipal police had to intervene in the early hours of Tuesday to stop an 80-year-old man who was driving a car down Rome’s Spanish Steps, one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The incident occurred as the man navigated a large section of the monumental stairway before being halted by authorities.
According to Ansa News Agency, the elderly driver was not injured during the incident. A breathalyzer test conducted on the man after the event came back negative, confirming he was not under the influence of alcohol. The unusual event prompted firefighters to use a crane to carefully remove the vehicle from the steps on Tuesday.
