Vatican City: Pope Leo XIV called for “responsibility and discernment” in relation to the use and development of Artificial Intelligence during a meeting with media professionals in the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall on Monday. The pontiff highlighted the importance of guiding the immense potential of AI towards benefiting humanity.



According to Ansa News Agency, the pope stressed that responsibility in the use of AI is a universal concern, relevant to all individuals based on their age and societal role. This message was echoed during his first public appearance as pope on Saturday, when he visited a sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna run by his Augustinian order in Genazzano, south of Rome. Pope Leo XIV emphasized AI as one of the significant challenges facing humanity today.
