Vatican City: Pope Francis had a restful night at Rome’s Gemelli hospital after being admitted last Friday due to breathing issues caused by bronchitis. The Vatican announced this on Thursday, noting a slight improvement in his condition as reported on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Pope’s clinical situation is complex, as he has developed double pneumonia, which is expected to extend his hospitalization. On Thursday morning, the Vatican Press Office stated that Pope Francis had a restful night and managed to get out of bed and have breakfast in an armchair. On Wednesday evening, the Vatican confirmed that the 88-year-old pontiff’s condition was stable, with blood tests showing a slight improvement, particularly in the inflammatory indices.
