Pope Francis Rests Comfortably Amid Pneumonia Battle, Says Vatican

Vatican City: Pope Francis slept well during the night and is now resting, the Vatican Press Office said early on Thursday morning. In an evening medical bulletin released late on Wednesday, the Vatican said the pontiff suffered no further respiratory crises as he battles pneumonia in a Rome hospital but his prognosis remains guarded.

According to Ansa News Agency, “Today’s blood tests and haematocytometric tests” confirmed the previous day’s improvement, as stated in the medical bulletin released last evening regarding the pope’s condition at the Agostino Gemelli Hospital. The Holy Father continues to receive high-flow oxygen therapy and did not experience asthmatic respiratory crises.

The bulletin further noted that respiratory physiotherapy is ongoing. Despite a slight improvement, the prognosis remains reserved, the bulletin explained.
