Pope Francis Resting After Quiet Night Amid Hospitalization

Rome: Pope Francis is currently resting following a quiet night, as announced by the Vatican Press Office early on Thursday. The 88-year-old pontiff, who is battling pneumonia in both lungs, remains hospitalized at Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital since February 14.

According to Ansa News Agency, a medical bulletin released on Wednesday night confirmed that the Pope’s condition is stable, with no further episodes of respiratory failure. The bulletin detailed that the Holy Father had undergone high-flow oxygen therapy during the day, with non-invasive mechanical ventilation planned for the night.

The Vatican Press Office highlighted that Pope Francis increased his respiratory physiotherapy and engaged in active motor therapy, spending much of the day in an armchair. Despite his hospitalization, the Pope received the Ash Wednesday ashes, marking the start of Lent.
