Pope Calls on World to End ‘Scourge of Anti-Semitism’

Vatican City: Pope Francis called on the world to end the “scourge” of anti-Semitism at the end of his Angelus address on Sunday ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday. “The horror of the extermination of millions of Jewish people and others of different faiths during those years must never be forgotten or denied,” he said.

According to Ansa News Agency, Pope Francis expressed his appeal for united efforts to eradicate anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination and religious persecution. He urged for the building of a more fraternal and just world, emphasizing the importance of educating young people to have hearts open to all, in the spirit of fraternity, forgiveness, and peace.

The Pope highlighted that this year marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp, noting that many Christians were also killed in Nazi death camps.
