Child Raped, At Least 34 Killed at Almasri Prison – ICC

Tripoli: At least 34 inmates have been killed since February 2015 at Tripoli’s Mittiga prison run by Najeem Osema Almasri Habish and 22 people, including a five-year-old child, have been sexually abused by guards, the International Criminal Court said in its arrest warrant for the Libyan police chief.

According to Ansa News Agency, Almasri is suspected of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder, torture, rape, and sexual violence. The ICC judges allege that he “beat, tortured, shot, sexually assaulted and personally killed detainees, as well as ordered the guards to beat and torture them.” The arrest warrant highlights the extent of alleged atrocities committed under Almasri’s command, reflecting severe human rights abuses within the prison system.
