Police Injured by Hammer Blows, One Shoots Attacker

Ivrea: Two police were injured with hammer blows by a man whom one of them subsequently shot in an incident on a northwestern motorway slipway Thursday. The officers were attacked by a driver on the Ivrea-Santhi  motorway link road, at the Viverone Sud service station.

According to Ansa News Agency, one officer is said to be in serious condition, and all three injured were taken to hospital. The motorway link road was closed from the Albiano junction in the direction of Vercelli.
