Historic Arrival of Amerigo Vespucci in Aqaba Port

Aqaba: The ship Amerigo Vespucci arrived in the port of Aqaba, marking a significant event amidst the intersecting trade and cultural routes of the region. The ship and its crew were met with a warm reception, underscoring the importance of international cooperation.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Italian ambassador in Amman, Luciano Pezzotti, and the honorary consul of Aqaba, Ali Khater, were present to welcome the ship. They were joined by the commander of the Royal Jordanian Naval Force and the governor of Aqaba, highlighting the diplomatic and cultural significance of the Vespucci’s visit.

The visit to the Jordanian port is the last non-Mediterranean stop for the Amerigo Vespucci, whose world tour is nearing completion after more than a year and a half of sailing. In the coming days, the Navy training ship is set to traverse the Suez Canal and make its next stop in Alexandria, Egypt.
