PM Honours Ukrainian Resistance Through Diplomatic Message

Rome: Supporting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people means defending freedom, Fabrizio Saggio, Premier Giorgia Meloni’s diplomatic advisor, wrote in a letter sent Friday to Oles Horodetskyy, the president of the Christian Association of Ukrainians in Italy. The letter was shared publicly on Facebook.

According to Ansa News Agency, Horodetskyy was one of the organizers of a march held in Rome on Sunday, which marked the eve of the third anniversary of the Ukrainian conflict. The march aimed to express solidarity with Ukraine as the nation continues to face challenges due to the ongoing conflict.

In response to an invitation extended to Premier Meloni to attend the demonstration, Ambassador Saggio explained that the premier was unable to participate due to prior institutional commitments. However, he urged Horodetskyy to convey Meloni’s “convinced intention of paying homage to the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people also on the occasion of this third anniversary, as she did last year personally in Kyiv”.
