Over 2 Million Protesters Rally in Italy Against Israeli Interception of Global Sumud Flotilla

Rome: More than two million people turned out for approximately 100 protests against the Israeli interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla across Italy on Friday, according to the left-wing CGIL trade union federation, which organized the demonstrations as part of its general strike.

According to Ansa News Agency, the CGIL declared the day’s mobilization a success, noting that over two million individuals participated in marches held in more than 100 Italian cities. The protests were organized to support the national general strike, defending the Flotilla, upholding constitutional values, opposing genocide, and showing solidarity with the people of Gaza. In Rome alone, approximately 300,000 people marched through the streets of the capital.

The CGIL further reported that, based on preliminary data, the national average participation in the general strike was around 60%.
