Over 103,000 Italian Jobs at Risk Due to 15% US Tariffs
Rome: The implementation of a 15% tariff agreement between the United States and the European Union on European imports could result in a significant decrease in Italian exports and jeopardize thousands of jobs, according to a report by the Svimez research association.
According to Ansa News Agency, Svimez’s report indicates that Italian exports could decrease by 8.627 billion euros in value, potentially endangering 103,892 jobs. The report further suggests that excluding pharmaceuticals from these tariffs could mitigate the impact, with the decline in exports reduced to 7.44 billion euros and the number of jobs at risk decreasing to 89,645.
The report also highlights the specific impact on southern Italy, where the tariffs could lead to a loss of 705 million euros in exports and put 8,519 jobs in jeopardy.
