OpenAI’s ChatGPT Leads in Global AI Tool Traffic with 2.3 Billion Visits


NEW YORK: OpenAI’s generative chatbot, ChatGPT, has recorded a staggering 2.3 billion visits, making it the most frequented AI tool worldwide, according to a recent report by the World Bank Group.

According to Anadolu Agency, the report titled “Who on Earth Is Using Generative AI,” highlights the website traffic of 40 different AI tools in March, totaling nearly 3 billion visits. ChatGPT emerged as the top tool, capturing 82.5% of all AI tool website traffic. Following ChatGPT in the rankings is Google’s AI tool, Gemini, which secured the second spot with 133 million visits. Initially launched as Bard in 2023, it was later rebranded as Gemini.

The report indicates a clear dominance of chatbots on the list, as they occupy the first seven positions. The top ten is rounded out by Poe, Perplexity, Claude, and DeepAI, with visits ranging from 43.4 million to 31.1 million. Among image-generative AI tools, Midjourney led with 24.7 million visits, followed by Prezi and Nightcafe, with 18 million and 13.9 million vi
sits respectively.

The data also shows that except for Nightcafe, which is based in Australia, all of the top ten AI tools are headquartered in the United States.
