Sanremo: Young singer and songwriter Olly triumphed with the song ‘Balorda Nostalgia’ (Foolish Nostalgia) in the early hours of Sunday as a successful 2025 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival came to a close.

According to Ansa News Agency, the much-loved annual music jamboree and song contest attracted an average of 13.427 million viewers to State broadcaster Rai’s flagship Rai1 channel on the final night, capturing 73.1% of the overall audience share. The show, presented by artistic director Carlo Conti, maintained its popularity throughout the previous four nights as well.

Indeed, long-standing Rai executive Giancarlo Leone stated on X on Sunday that the festival attracted an average of 12.5 million viewers each night, accounting for 67.1% of the audience share. He noted that this was the highest number of viewers in absolute terms since 2000 and the highest audience share ever recorded.

The percentage of the audience share on the final night peaked at 87.3% at 1:56 on Sunday when Olly’s triumph was announced. The 23-year-old artist claimed victory over several more established stars, including Giorgia and Achille Lauro, leading to some boos in Sanremo’s Ariston theatre when their rankings were revealed, along with much criticism on social media regarding the outcome.
