Number in Employment in Italy Increased by 352,000 in 2024

Rome: On average, 23.932 million people were in employment in Italy in 2024, marking an increase of 352,000, or 1.5%, compared to the previous year, Istat said on Thursday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the national statistics agency attributed this rise to a decrease in the number of unemployed people by 283,000, a reduction of 14.6%, alongside an increase in the number of inactive persons aged 15-64 by 56,000, up by 0.5%.

The report highlighted that the employment rate for individuals aged 15-64 rose by 0.7 percentage points to 62.2% last year. Concurrently, the unemployment rate fell by 1.1 points to 6.5%. Meanwhile, the inactivity rate saw a slight increase of 0.1 point, reaching 33.4%.
