Nord Stream Suspect Handover to Germany Annulled
Rome: The handover to Germany of a former Ukrainian army captain suspected of sabotaging the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September 2022 was annulled by the Supreme Court of Cassation on Wednesday: The Court of Cassation annulled and remanded the decision by which the Court of Appeal had ordered the handover to Germany of Serhii Kuznietsov, the former Ukrainian army captain arrested on a European arrest warrant in the Rimini area on August 21, on charges of sabotaging the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in September 2022.
According to Ansa News Agency, the case will be reassessed by a new panel. At the hearing, the Prosecutor General’s Office requested that one of the grounds of the appeal filed by the defense, attorney Nicola Canestrini, be upheld, alleging incorrect legal characterization of the facts in the European arrest warrant.
