No Alternative to Being Pro-Europe, Says Tajani
Pietralcina: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, leader of the centre-right Forza Italia (FI) party, emphasized the importance of pro-European sentiment at a meeting in Pietralcina. The event, focused on European Christian roots, was organized in anticipation of the European People’s Party (EPP) congress scheduled for April in Valencia. Tajani asserted that embracing a pro-Europe stance is indispensable.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani outlined Forza Italia’s objectives, reiterating the party’s commitment to principles such as freedom, solidarity, and the centrality of the individual. He urged Italy’s moderates to bolster the nation’s role within Europe, affirming the party’s dedication to Europeanism.
Tajani underscored Europe’s significance in fostering peace and establishing itself as a key player on the global stage, particularly in relations with the United States, China, India, and the Russian Federation. He stressed that Europe provides Italians with a sense of security and protection, asserting that there is no viable alternative to a pro-European stance.
On the eve of political elections in Germany, Tajani expressed his belief in the importance of a victory for the Christian Democratic Union’s (CDU) Friedrich Merz as the future chancellor. He dismissed the possibility of a win for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), stating that the party’s agenda is detrimental to Italy, as it advocates for the country to exit the euro zone.
