Lucio Corsi to Represent Italy at Eurovision Song Contest

Basel: Lucio Corsi, who came in second at the 75th edition of the Sanremo Song Festival earlier this month, will represent Italy at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest scheduled to take place in Basel, Switzerland.

According to Ansa News Agency, a total of 37 nations will participate in the international contest, including the ‘big five’ such as Italy. The event will feature two semi-finals, which are set to be broadcast on May 13 and 15 by Rai 2. The Grand Final, where the Italian artist will perform his Sanremo hit “Volevo essere un duro” (I wanted to be tough), will be aired on May 17 by Rai 1, Raiplay, and Rai Radio2, as announced by the State broadcaster on Saturday.

Meanwhile, young singer and songwriter Olly, who triumphed with the song ‘Balorda Nostalgia’ (Foolish Nostalgia) in the early hours of Sunday, February 16, at the successful 2025 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, stated in an Instagram post Saturday that he was skipping the event. Olly mentioned he has decided to “forego the opportunity of taking part in Eurovision, aware that it is one of those things that perhaps happen once in life,” explaining that he needed to “connect with everything that is happening, before looking ahead and continuing with my beloved live apprenticeship.”
