More Effective EU Garners Greater Support, Says Mattarella to European Commission

Brussels: President Sergio Mattarella emphasized the importance of the European Union implementing effective policies that directly enhance the lives of its citizens. During his address to the College of European Commissioners on Wednesday, Mattarella highlighted the critical role of transparency and efficiency within EU institutions to garner essential social consensus.

According to Ansa News Agency, Mattarella articulated his belief that the EU’s ability to deliver rapid and rational responses to citizens’ needs would strengthen their indispensable support. He stressed that the more transparent and efficient the institutions become, the more robust the public backing for the EU will be.

President Mattarella received a warm reception from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen upon his arrival. “Welcome, dear President,” she greeted him, acknowledging Italy’s historical role as one of the founding countries of the EU. Von der Leyen lauded Mattarella not only as a statesman but as a true Europea
n at heart.

In addition to his address to the College of European Commissioners, Mattarella’s agenda included a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels on the same day.
