Milan’s 1.2 Billion Euro Stadium Set to Open by 2031

Milan: The operation to construct a new 1.2 billion euro stadium in the San Siro area of Milan has been outlined in a dossier presented by football clubs Inter and AC Milan to the municipal administration. This new facility is designed to hold 71,500 spectators and will be operational every day of the year.

According to Ansa News Agency, the extensive 250-page dossier outlines the transformation of the area surrounding the clubs’ current home. It details plans for the acquisition and subsequent development of the site by the Serie A clubs. The Milan City Council has also released a public tender for the sale of the site, marking a significant step forward in the project.

The construction of the stadium itself is projected to cost around 700 million euros, with completion expected by 2031. Beyond the stadium, the project will develop the surrounding area into a sports citadel, featuring a museum, commercial spaces, offices, a hotel, and green spaces. Additionally, there are plans for the ‘refunctionalization’ of the historic San Siro, officially known as the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The project includes the purchase of the 98-year-old stadium and its surrounding area from the city council by the two clubs, marking a significant development in the evolution of the iconic sports venue.
