Milan Stock Market Declines by 2.75% Amid Tariff Tensions
Milan: The Milan bourse closed 2.75% down as fresh tensions surrounding tariffs imposed by President Trump weighed on the market. The FTSE-Mib index fell to 32,730 points, marking a significant downturn.
According to Ansa News Agency, the decline followed a 2.44% recovery observed on Tuesday after the market experienced three consecutive losses. These losses were triggered by the announcement of new tariffs by the American president last Wednesday.
The ongoing trade conflict between the US and China, among other factors, has negatively impacted European stocks. The London stock market closed 2.92% down, Paris ended 3.34% lower, and Frankfurt saw a 3% decline.
In the United States, the markets displayed mixed results. The Dow Jones fell by 0.69%, while the Nasdaq experienced a slight increase of 0.28%. The S and P 500 recorded a decrease of 0.55% amid volatile trading conditions.
