Milan Stock Exchange Slides Again Amid Tariff Strife
Milan: The Milan stock exchange’s FTSE Mib index experienced a decline again after the opening of trading on Wednesday, dropping by 2.7%. This downturn is occurring amidst ongoing turmoil on the international money markets due to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
According to Ansa News Agency, the index had previously regained 2.44% on Tuesday, recovering some of the losses incurred during three consecutive sessions of significant declines on Thursday, Friday, and Monday.
In early trading on Wednesday, STM emerged as the biggest loser in Milan, with shares down by 5.6%. The French-Italian group, which supplies chips to Apple, has been adversely affected by the substantial tariffs Trump has placed on China.
Conversely, the ‘best-performing’ stock on the Milan bourse was Poste Italiane, which saw a smaller decline, falling only by 1%.
