Miklós Soltész: Where there is faith, persistence is stronger

The most important thing in the life of a community is faith, where there is faith and Christianity, survival is much stronger – emphasized the state secretary responsible for church and ethnic relations, the vice-chairman of the KDNP, at the inaugural meeting of the Croatian ethnic self-government in Budapest on Wednesday.

In his welcoming speech , Miklós Soltész said: ethnic communities have a huge responsibility, but the work they do pays off many times over. The efforts of the communities greatly help the lives, survival and relationships of ethnic youth, he said.

According to the State Secretary, the Croatian was one of the most successful communities among the Hungarian ethnic municipalities in the past period.

We were able to implement many ideas that we would not have dreamed of 15-20 years ago”

he added.

He singled out public education as an example, mentioning that several ethnic schools have been renovated and expanded recently. Among other things, the schools in the settlements of Kópháza, S
zentpéterfa, Horvátzsidány and Hercegszántó were also improved in the last cycle, he listed.

Miklós Soltész also mentioned cultural grants among the results of the past period; according to his statement, the Croatian community was at the forefront of the nationalities in the organization of cultural and community programs.

He mentioned it

also the gap-filling energy investments launched during the coronavirus epidemic, which made it possible to modernize country houses, village houses and community rooms, with government help. Investments will continue”

he indicated.

The state secretary also called it important to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. He emphasized: the relationship between the Croatians in Hungary and the Hungarians in Croatia largely depends on how the leadership of the two countries and the two governments relate to each other.

It says a lot about government relations that, after the terrible devastation of the earthquake in Croatia, the Hungarian government was the
first to offer aid to the Croats, ahead of everyone else in Europe.”

he stated.
