Meloni Proud of Comparison to Late Activist Charlie Kirk
Turin: Being compared to late Republican activist Charlie Kirk is a source of pride, Premier Giorgia Meloni said after the comparison was daubed at a Turin rail station Thursday. “‘Meloni like Kirk.’ They wrote it as a threat. But those who live by hatred and intimidation will never be like Charlie Kirk, because they don’t know the value of dialogue, debate, and democracy. Being compared to him is a source of pride: Kirk made his life a battle for freedom of thought,” Meloni wrote on X, commenting on graffiti that appeared on a wall at the Porta Susa train station in Turin.
According to Ansa News Agency, the graffiti at the Turin station appeared to be intended as a criticism of Meloni, but she embraced the comparison instead. Meloni highlighted Kirk’s commitment to dialogue and democracy, suggesting that those who resort to intimidation lack these values. The Premier’s response on X indicates her admiration for Kirk’s dedication to freedom of thought.
