Meloni Asserts Need for Comprehensive Solutions to Ukraine Conflict
Washington: Premier Gorgia Meloni stated ahead of upcoming summits in Washington with Western leaders, US President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that there are no straightforward solutions to the Ukraine conflict. She emphasized the necessity of exploring all potential avenues to resolve the three and a half year war initiated by Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni highlighted the importance of the talks in Washington, where European leaders and Zelensky are set to meet with Trump. Meloni remarked, “There are no easy solutions. I think we must explore all possible solutions to ensure peace and security for our nations,” underlining the significance of the day’s discussions.
The summit is seen as a crucial meeting as it marks a potential turning point after years of stalled dialogue. Meloni pointed out, “Today is an important day. After three and a half years in which we had a Russia that gave no sign of dialogue and demanded Kiev’s capitulation, finally some glimmers of hope for dialogue are appearing.”
Zelensky has arrived in Washington accompanied by top European leaders including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and Meloni herself.
