Mattarella, Meloni Dismayed by Death of Three Carabinieri in Verona Explosion

Rome: President Sergio Mattarella and Premier Giorgia Meloni paid tribute and expressed their sorrow on Tuesday after three Carabinieri police officers, Marco Piffari, Davide Bernardello, and Valerio Dapr , lost their lives due to an explosion during the eviction of a farmhouse in the province of Verona.

According to Ansa News Agency, Mattarella conveyed “dismay and deep sorrow” over the tragic incident. He extended his solidarity to the Carabinieri Corps while offering condolences to the bereaved families and wishing for the quick recovery of the injured officials.

Premier Meloni also shared her grief, expressing “deep sorrow” over the unfortunate event. She extended her condolences on behalf of the government to the victims’ families and communicated her emotional support to the Arma dei Carabinieri, as relayed in her conversation with General Salvatore Luongo. Meloni also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured police forces and fire brigade members, thanking the medical personnel and first responders for their prompt and professional intervention. She emphasized the continuous sacrifice and service of those who serve the State and its citizens.

Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi also expressed their pain over the loss of the officers, highlighting the collective mourning of public figures and officials.
