Mattarella Expresses Support for Jordan’s Mediation Efforts During Rome Visit


Rome: President Sergio Mattarella on Monday welcomed Jordan’s King Abdullah to the Quirinale presidential palace in Rome, expressing Italy’s support for Jordan’s mediation efforts in the region. During the meeting, Mattarella emphasized the importance of Italy and Jordan working closely together to address the complex challenges facing their shared neighborhood.



According to Ansa News Agency, Mattarella conveyed to King Abdullah that it was an honor for Italy to host him in Rome, especially during such challenging times. He highlighted the significance of exchanging views and analyzing the complicated regional situation alongside Jordan, recognizing the critical role the country plays in regional coordination and mediation.



Mattarella underscored Italy’s commitment to supporting Jordan’s efforts in fostering mediation and connection within the region. He praised Jordan’s exemplary work in these areas and assured the King of Italy’s continual support for these important endeavors.



In a more personal note, Mattarella also congratulated King Abdullah on the recent birth of his granddaughter, Amina. The King became a grandfather for the first time when Crown Prince Hussein and his wife, Princess Rajwa, welcomed their first child, daughter Iman, in August 2024.
