Perugia: President Sergio Mattarella was in Perugia on Wednesday to take part in the ceremony opening the 100th academic year of the Umbrian city’s University for Foreigners. The head of State was greeted by Umbria Governor Stefania Proietti, Perugia Mayor Vittoria Ferdinandi, Prefect Armando Gradone, the University’s Dean Valerio De Cesaris, and children from local schools waving Italian flags.
According to Ansa News Agency, before the ceremony, Mattarella had meetings with student and staff representatives. The university has organized a programme of cultural initiatives to celebrate its 100th anniversary in the coming months.
