Man Confesses to Femicide Near Salerno

Rome: A 36-year-old man confessed on Monday night to the femicide of his 47-year-old partner near Salerno over the weekend. This incident is the latest in a series of episodes highlighting violence against women in Italy.

According to Ansa News Agency, Christian Persico, a building labourer, admitted to strangling Tina Sgarbini. He claimed the act was prompted by her decision to end their relationship and her insistence that he find employment, which led to her throwing him out of their home. Sgarbini was a mother of three children from a previous relationship.

Following the murder, Persico attempted to take his own life by jumping off a bridge. His lawyer reported that Persico still bears injuries from the fall. The tragic event unfolded in the small town of Montecorvino Rovella.
