Libyan Judicial Police Commander Arrested in Turin

Turin: Osama al Najim, commander of the Libyan judicial police, has been arrested in Turin, according to reports Monday. There was reportedly a tip from Interpol about the man’s presence in the northwestern Italian city.

According to Ansa News Agency, the arrest, Mediterranea Saving Humans migrant-rescue NGO reported, “came after years of complaints and testimonies from victims, sent to the International Criminal Court, which conducted a difficult investigation”. The man is accused of violence in the Mitiga prison, in Libya, according to what Avvenire journalist Nello Scavo reported.
