Lampedusa Tragedy Claims Lives of 20 Migrants from Pakistan, Sudan, and Somalia

Lampedusa: Migrants involved in a double shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa have been identified as originating from Pakistan, Sudan, and Somalia. Officials on the island, located south of Sicily, confirmed that around 20 individuals lost their lives in the tragic incident.

According to Ansa News Agency, inspections are currently being conducted on the bodies of those who perished in the two separate shipwrecks near Lampedusa. The island’s limited mortuary space has necessitated swift examinations by doctors at the outpatient clinic.

Reports state that the refugees embarked on their journey from Libya. Out of approximately 60 survivors, four individuals are experiencing health issues, including fractures, and are currently under hospital observation.

Tragically, among the deceased is a one-year-old girl, adding to the somber toll of the disaster.
