Kim Novak to Receive Lifetime Achievement Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival

Venice: American actress Kim Novak will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Golden Lion at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, which takes place from August 27 to September 6, La Biennale di Venezia announced on Monday. Novak, who is 92 years old, is renowned for her roles in Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller “Vertigo” and other films such as “Picnic” and “Bell, Book and Candle.”

According to Ansa News Agency, Novak expressed her deep gratitude for receiving this prestigious honor. “I am deeply, deeply touched to receive the prestigious Golden Lion Award from such an enormously respected film festival,” she stated. Novak emphasized that being recognized for her body of work at this stage in her life is a dream come true, adding, “I will treasure every moment I spend in Venice. It will fill my heart with joy.”

The festival’s Artistic Director, Alberto Barbera, praised Novak as “one of the most beloved icons of an entire era of Hollywood films.” He noted that this Lifetime Achievement award celebrates a star who was both emancipated and a rebel at the heart of Hollywood. Novak illuminated the dreams of movie lovers before retiring to her ranch in Oregon, where she dedicated herself to painting and caring for her horses.
