Juve Confirms Thiago Motta’s Position Remains Secure Despite Cup Exit

Turin: Juventus coach Thiago Motta is not facing dismissal despite the team’s recent exit from the Italian Cup at the quarter-final stage against Empoli, as confirmed by Director of Sport Cristiano Giuntoli on Thursday. Giuntoli emphasized the club’s confidence in Motta’s ongoing project and the value he brings by integrating young players into the squad.

According to Ansa News Agency, Giuntoli expressed the club’s belief in Motta’s strategy during an interview with Sky television. He stated, “We are convinced that the Motta project is important. The coach is creating value by getting many young players to play.” Giuntoli reassured that Motta’s position is not in doubt, despite the team’s recent setbacks.

The loss to Empoli was described as an “inexplicable match” by Giuntoli, particularly as Juventus was coming off the back of four consecutive wins. He acknowledged the disappointing performance but aligned with Motta’s assessment of the game, labeling it “unacceptable.”

Juventus has also faced challenges in the Champions League, having been eliminated in the playoffs for a spot in the last 16. Currently, the team stands fourth in Serie A with 49 points, trailing league leaders Inter by eight points.
