Rome: The government’s reform of the judiciary, which separates career paths so judges and prosecutors can no longer swap roles, is a historic milestone, Premier Giorgia Meloni stated Thursday. She emphasized that the Italian people would now have a chance to approve the reform in a referendum.
According to Ansa News Agency, Premier Meloni remarked on X, “Today, with the fourth and final reading of the constitutional justice reform, we are taking an important step toward a more efficient, balanced, and citizen-friendly system.” She underscored that this reform represents a historic milestone and a fulfilled commitment for the benefit of Italians. The government and parliament have worked diligently to reach this point, and now it is up to the citizens to express their views through a confirmatory referendum.
Meloni further stated that Italy continues its path of renewal for the good of the nation and its citizens. She articulated that a more just Italy is also a stronger Italy, highlighting the significance of the reform in shaping the future of the country’s judicial system.
