Jubilee: Holy Door Opened at St Paul’s Outside Walls

Rome: Jubilee 2025 sees the opening of the fifth and final holy door in the Italian capital at St Paul’s Outside Walls. This event marks a significant moment for the Catholic Church as it prepares for the influx of pilgrims during the Holy Year.

According to Ansa News Agency, Pope Francis initiated the Holy Year by opening the Holy Door at Saint Peter’s on Christmas Eve. Additionally, he opened another holy door at Rome’s Rebibbia prison on December 26. The other two major basilicas in Rome, Saint John Lateran and Saint Mary Major, also had their holy doors opened on December 19 and New Year’s Day, respectively.

Catholics who walk through a holy door over the next year will have the opportunity to obtain a ‘plenary indulgence’ for their sins. The Jubilee will feature a comprehensive programme including shows, conferences, concerts, and religious events. Organizers expect this spiritual celebration to attract over 30 million pilgrims to Rome.
