Messina: First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will be visiting Italy on Tuesday and Wednesday. She will depart from Joint Base Andrews in Washington D.C. to reach Catania, the US Consulate in Naples said on Monday. On December 4, the first lady will travel to the Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella. During the morning, as part of the initiative Joining Forces to support the loved ones of military personnel and veterans, Jill Biden will meet with military families and give a speech at the NAS base. Subsequently, later in the morning, the first lady will travel to Messina to visit Gesso, the hometown of her grandparents. On Wednesday afternoon, Jill Biden will take off from NAS Sigonella to fly to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Her trip overseas, which will end on December 8, will also include stopovers in Qatar and France.
According to Ansa News Agency, the visit is part of a broader initiative aimed at supporting military families under the Joining Forces program. This program, co-founded by Dr. Biden, seeks to
provide resources and support to military families, caregivers, and survivors. The visit to Gesso holds personal significance for Dr. Biden, as it is the hometown of her grandparents, making it a meaningful stop in her itinerary. Her subsequent travels to Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and France highlight the diplomatic and cultural engagements planned during her overseas trip.
