Jewish Tourist Among 4 Investigated for Service-Station Incident Near Milan

Milan: Italian prosecutors have placed four individuals under investigation following an altercation at the Lainate service station near Milan, which occurred nine days ago. Among those being investigated is a French Jewish tourist who filmed part of the incident and reported it to authorities.

According to Ansa News Agency, the 52-year-old Frenchman, identified by his wearing of a kippah, was reportedly abused in front of his six-year-old son. The video of the incident has drawn significant attention and public outrage. Following the uproar, a group of individuals, allegedly involved in targeting the tourist, filed a complaint against him. This group included people of Palestinian origin who claimed that the tourist labeled them as terrorists. In response, they reportedly chanted “free Palestine,” prompting further insults and threats from the tourist.

Investigators are also reviewing closed-circuit surveillance footage of the incident to gather more information. However, it is noted that the footage does not include audio, which may limit its usefulness in understanding the verbal exchanges that took place.
