Four Police Officers Probed Over Ramy Case ‘Cover-Up’

Milan: The Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that it has wrapped up an investigation into four Carabinieri police officers over an alleged cover-up in the case of Ramy Elgaml, a 19-year-old who died on a scooter following a chase on November 24, 2024.

According to Ansa News Agency, the four officers include two who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and two others who allegedly coerced an eye-witness into deleting a video of the incident. Italian prosecutors typically notify parties that a probe has concluded before proceeding with requests for indictments.

Last month, prosecutors concluded a separate investigation into vehicular homicide concerning the Carabiniere driving the pursuing vehicle and Fares Bouzidi, a friend of Elgaml’s who was driving the scooter and survived the crash. The fatal accident spurred days of unrest in a predominantly immigrant, working-class district of Milan.
