Italy’s Economic Growth May Surpass Forecast, Says Giorgetti

Rome: Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti expressed optimism on Wednesday that Italy’s economic growth could exceed the government’s forecast of a 0.6% GDP increase this year. Giorgetti shared his views during the presentation of the Parliamentary Budget Office’s Budget Policy Report.

According to Ansa News Agency, Giorgetti stated, “I am confident that, with the easing of the conditions of uncertainty, the outlook for the Italian economy can improve.” He emphasized that the government’s growth estimate for 2025, outlined in the economic blueprint, is not only achievable but potentially surpassable.

He also addressed the potential for an agreement between the United States and the EU to prevent tariffs on European goods. Giorgetti expressed hope for a “zero-for-zero duties” agreement, noting that a compromise would be more favorable than the current situation, which he described as destabilizing for economic operators.
