Italy Willing to Discuss Sanctions Against Israeli Ministers

Brussels: Italy is open to discussing sanctions against hardline Israeli ministers as proposed by the European Commission, sources revealed following a Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the European Commission presented its proposals during the COREPER meeting to apply pressure on Israel due to the ongoing situation in Gaza. Italy was among the member states that actively participated in the debate and expressed its position.

During the discussions, Rome reportedly acknowledged the proposals and reiterated its support for the United Nations resolution advocating a two-state solution. Furthermore, Italy affirmed its backing for the implementation of sanctions against violent settlers and indicated its willingness to engage in discussions regarding sanctions against extremist Israeli ministers.
