Italy-Turkey Commitment to Peace, Security, Human Rights
Rome: Italy and Turkey have “committed to supporting the three pillars of the United Nations system, namely peace and security, development and human rights”, said a joint declaration signed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of the fourth intergovernmental summit between the two countries.
According to Ansa News Agency, the declaration signifies a mutual understanding and collaboration between Italy and Turkey to uphold and promote the core objectives of the United Nations. This commitment comes as both nations face regional and global challenges that require concerted efforts in maintaining peace, boosting development, and safeguarding human rights.
The intergovernmental summit served as a platform for Italy and Turkey to discuss strategies and initiatives to enhance cooperation. The leaders emphasized the importance of multilateral efforts and the role of international cooperation in addressing issues beyond national borders.
