Italy Summons Moscow’s Envoy After Mattarella Put on ‘Russophobe List’
Rome: Italy’s Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, summoned Russia’s ambassador to Italy on Wednesday following the inclusion of President Sergio Mattarella and other Italian officials on a list of alleged “Russophobes” compiled by Moscow.
According to Ansa News Agency, the Italian foreign ministry released a statement expressing Tajani’s view that the inclusion of the head of state on this list is a provocation to the Republic and the Italian people. Tajani extended his institutional and personal solidarity to President Mattarella in light of the incident.
