Italy Shocked by Fresh Femicide
Rome: Italy has been shocked by the latest in a wave of femicides after a 62-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her 64-year-old ex-husband in a Milan street on Wednesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, Luciana Ronchi, a former cleaner and currently a cafeteria employee, was stabbed 14 times in the face, abdomen, and hands by her ex, Luigi Morcaldi. Morcaldi had been lying in wait for days outside her home on the northern outskirts of the Lombardy capital and fled on his scooter after the attack.
Morcaldi, who has been unemployed for a long time and lived in his car, carried out the attack in what an eyewitness described as a “terrible scene that left me paralysed.” He reportedly confessed to the police on Thursday, saying, “I’m a failure and a killer.”
