Italy-Serbia Confrontation on Artificial Intelligence Unveiled at BircaninovaLab

Belgrade: As part of “BircaninovaLab”, the Residence of the Ambassador of Italy in Serbia, Luca Gori, hosted the event “Artificial intelligence: a tool for progress or a challenge for society?” The event was organized in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.

According to Ansa News Agency, “BircaninovaLab” is a format conceived and implemented by the Italian Embassy in Belgrade, aiming to create a space for discussion and in-depth analysis on current issues. The platform serves as a “laboratory” for exchanging ideas and promoting dialogue between Italy and Serbia through discussions with leading figures and experts from both nations.

The event dedicated to artificial intelligence was the first of its kind and was inaugurated by Alessandro Aresu, analyst and author of ‘Geopolitics of Artificial Intelligence’. The topic was further explored in a panel discussion that examined the impact of artificial intelligence across various fields, including politics an
d human health. Joining Aresu in the discussion were Stefan Badza, Advisor to the President of the Serbian Parliament; Professor Vlado Delic, expert in Acoustics and Signal Analysis at the University of Novi Sad; and Branka Rakic, Head of the Health and Life Sciences Unit at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Novi Sad.

Ambassador Gori remarked, “This event dedicated to artificial intelligence is the best way to inaugurate our new format BircaninovaLab which, in a series of meetings, will address topical issues, focusing particularly on the challenges of innovation.” He further emphasized the objectives of BircaninovaLab, which are to foster a broad exchange of ideas between experts from Italy and Serbia and to spur new bilateral cooperation projects from this dialogue.
