Italy Registers Eighth West Nile Virus Victim This Year

Rome: Italy has registered its eighth victim of West Nile Virus this year after a 72-year-old man died of the disease in a Caserta hospital on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the disease, which is spread by mosquitoes, has claimed three other lives in the southern region of Campania. In addition, Lazio, the region Rome belongs to, has recorded three West Nile deaths over the last few weeks, and a person died of it in Piedmont some months ago.
