Italy Proposes Worldwide Olympic Truce for Milano-Cortina 2026

Rome: Italy will propose a worldwide truce for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, as announced by Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. The announcement was made during the 12th Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference in Rome.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani emphasized the importance of championing peace and expressed support for the U.S. plan concerning Gaza. He echoed sentiments previously expressed by Pope Leo, underscoring the necessity of maintaining hope for peace. Tajani highlighted Rome and Italy’s roles as pivotal locations for peace, development, and growth.

Tajani stated that in anticipation of the Milano-Cortina Olympics, Italy will present a proposal to the United Nations advocating for an Olympic Truce. This initiative seeks to halt all ongoing conflicts, including those in Ukraine and the Middle East.
