Italy Opposes Israel’s Gaza Offensive, Urges Ceasefire: Tajani

Rome: Italy’s Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on Tuesday that the Italian government is against the offensive launched by Israel to seize control of Gaza City.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani expressed concerns over the operation during an interview with Skytg24, emphasizing the potential risks to the civilian population. “We have always said we are against the offensive on Gaza because of the risks it poses to the civilian population, certainly not to defend Hamas, which is using hostages as human shields,” he stated.

Tajani further stressed the urgency of achieving a ceasefire, advocating for the unconditional release of hostages and the cessation of attacks. “We need to accelerate the process for a ceasefire, with the unconditional release of the hostages, and an end to the attacks,” he urged. Tajani also highlighted the devastating impact of the conflict, noting that Gaza has already witnessed significant carnage in recent months.
