Italy Opposes Escalation After Israeli Air Strikes on Doha, Says Meloni

Rome: Italy’s Premier Giorgia Meloni expressed strong opposition to any escalation of tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s recent air strikes on Doha, the capital of Qatar, which targeted political leaders of Hamas on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni conveyed her message of support and solidarity to Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasizing Italy’s commitment to backing all initiatives aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza. “On my own behalf and that of the Italian Government, I express sincere closeness to the Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to Qatar, reiterating Italy’s support for all efforts to put an end to the war in Gaza,” Meloni stated via X after the strikes.

The Italian Premier further stressed that Italy remains firmly against any actions that could exacerbate the crisis in the Middle East. “Italy remains opposed to any form of escalation that could lead to a further worsening of the crisis in the Middle East,” she added, underlining Italy’s stance on promoting peace and stability in the region.
