Italy Hit by Severe Weather Causing Flooding in Tuscany, Veneto, and Romagna

Rome: Italy was hit by another wave of bad weather overnight, with late-August storms bringing significant rainfall to northern and central parts of the country. Flooding was reported in Tuscany, Veneto, and Romagna, causing disruptions and safety concerns.

According to Ansa News Agency, several people were rescued and evacuated from dangerous situations in the province of Grosseto in southern Tuscany due to the storms. Firefighters carried out evacuations at a restaurant in Orbetello, worried about the rising water levels.

In Tuscany, an astonishing 109,000 lightning strikes were recorded within a 12-hour period. In Veneto, heavy rains and flooding prompted the deployment of 30 firefighters to respond in the Padua and Venice areas.

In Rome and its surrounding province, over 100 firefighters were called to manage uprooted trees, fallen branches, and unstable signs. The Ravenna area experienced hailstorms, while Cesenatico was hit by a downpour accompanied by winds reaching up to 70 km/h.
