Italy Condemns Israeli Attack on UNIFIL Says Tajani

Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expressed condemnation on Wednesday after the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) drones dropped four grenades close to its peacekeepers while they were working to clear roadblocks.

According to Ansa News Agency, the UN mission described the incident as “one of the most serious attacks on UNIFIL personnel and assets since the cessation of hostilities agreement of last November,” highlighting that one of the grenades impacted within 20 metres of its personnel and vehicles.

Italy contributes over 1,000 troops to the mission.
